Telefono Amico: un orientamento discreto attraverso l’ascolto empatico.

The contribution, starting from the data provided by the representatives of the national association “Telefono Amico” analyzes the numbers, gender, age of the people who turn to the service and the type of problems that they bring to the attention of volunteers who, daily, offer listening to hundreds of people. They are often people with relational difficulties and social discomfort who seek help, but also the elderly, disoriented young people, adults who are facing difficult situations.Through semi-structured interviews addressed to volunteers it was possible to study the effectiveness of empathic listening, as described by Rogers, by those who without making judgments, accepting fears and suffering, make themselves available to listen to people who call to try to orient them towards less painful life horizons.
