Abstract
The text analyzes the cultural outline actually requested to the teachers of Human Sciences, starting with the general student’s profile of competencies outlined in the new upper secondary school reform law in 2010. The text also reconstructs the stages of evolution of previous cultural and educational tradition of Istituti Magistrali, and academic development of educational sciences, in which teacher’s students have been trained in the last twenty years. Ministerial direction contains a renewed perspective, and it needs that all teachers gain personal awareness of their theoretical orientations. Finally, the A. adds a reflection on the professional development needs of teachers, stressing the strategic and privileged role of communication skills.
