Il positivismo pedagogico a Napoli

Abstract

The University of Naples was among the first and main seats of pedagogical positivism in Italy. The holders of the chair of Pedagogy (Fusco, Angiulli, Fornelli) developed in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century a not merely methodological reflection, addressed to the formation of civic consciousness of the city starting from family education. In other words, the Neapolitan professors played a role of major importance for civic education, strictly connected to
the family education in finding its main axis in the school. Hence came also the social commitment of university teachers in Naples, who were among the most important theorists of positivism
teaching Italian.
