Abstract

The article examines the work inclusion of young adults with Fragile X Syndrome (FXS) within the framework of the Life Project, with particular attention to the link between the right to work and quality of life. Employment is considered not only as a professional achievement, but as an essential tool for enhancing the autonomy, well-being, and social participation of each person. The qualitative and exploratory research focuses on extracurricular internships completed in Malta as part of the Erasmus+ program, promoted by the Italian Fragile X Syndrome Association, analyzing two main dimensions: the preparation and role of companions and the impact of the experience on participants in terms of independent life skills. The use of multiple research tools allows to identify strengths and critical issues in the experiences, outlining strategies to improve their organization. The ultimate goal is to foster inclusive pathways that focus on the quality of life and full inclusion of people with FXS.
