Abstract

At university level, the self-assessment system has for years been focused on an analysis of first and second level study paths, with the educational offer now offering standardized procedures and formats.
Starting from October 2022, the new ANVUR accreditation model has set out specific requirements aimed at triggering self-evaluation processes including in doctoral courses. This contribution therefore presents an analysis of the new accreditation model now being used, identifies possible future developments and questions the roles and functions still not covered in terms of the planning of third level training. In fact, while it is true that the research doctorate is a path that differs significantly from the previous levels of study in terms of educational objectives, this should not lead to a less structured or methodologically founded planning of the training, particularly in light of diversified doctoral calls (including industrial and national doctorates) that require a combined self-assessment process.
