Educational professions and ongoing legislative changes
Abstract
In the last years, in Italy, the debate on educational professions has involved the academic world and the professional associations. In this essay, we strive to clarify the professional identity and role of the educator and educationalist in the formal and non-formal education. Trying to adapt the current Italian legislation to that of Europe, the aim of the legislative proposal S. 2443 (Iori) on professional pedagogical and educational profiles is to standardize qualifications, university courses, skills and areas of employment. So low proposal also seems to be strategic for the perspective of modernizing the welfare system.
