Abstract

A case of catfishing, which came to the expert observation of the Authors and ended with the double suicide of the protagonists, provides the starting point for a series of criminological-clinical considerations. In fact, on the one hand, the transformation processes triggered by the web have brought some advantages to the practice of human communication (think, for example, of the speed and quantity in the exchange of information). On the other hand, however, the excessive use of the web has increasingly replaced interpersonal relationships mediated by real corporality, with the risk of activating, in the authors of these forms of communication, a marked self-/hetero-directed destructiveness triggered by alterations of identity, in turn based on the somatic structure, as in the case examined at the time.
