Responsibilities

Responsibility of authors

Authors guarantee that their manuscripts are original works, have not been published before, and are not being simultaneously considered for publication elsewhere. Parallel submission of the same paper to another journal constitutes misconduct, and eliminates the manuscript from further consideration.

Authors are solely responsible for the content of their submissions. The authors affirm that the article contains no unfounded or illegal statements, and does not violate the rights of third parties.

Authors must ensure that the group of authors listed in the manuscript includes all and only those authors who contributed significantly to the submitted manuscript. If persons other than the authors were involved in important aspects of the research project and in the preparation of the manuscript, their contribution should be acknowledged in a footnote or in the Acknowledgements section.

It is the authors' responsibility to specify the title and code of the research project in which the work was created, as well as the full title of the funding institution.

Authors are required to properly cite sources that significantly influenced their research and manuscript. Parts of the manuscript, including text, images, and tables that are faithfully reproduced from other works, must be clearly cited (e.g. by enclosing their position in the original document in inverted commas).

The full references of each text citation must be listed in the Bibliographic References section, according to the citation style used by the journal. The references section should only list citations.

When authors identify a significant error or inaccuracy in a published work, it is their obligation to promptly notify the Editor-in-Chief (or Publisher) and cooperate to withdraw or correct the paper.

By submitting a manuscript, authors agree to abide by the Editorial Policies of Reading Effects.

Editorial responsibilities

The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the final decision on which articles submitted to the journal will be published. Decisions are made solely on the basis of the merit of the manuscript and the results of reviews. In making decisions, the Editor-in-Chief also considers editorial policy and legal provisions regarding defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.

Members of the Editorial Board, including the Editor-in-Chief, must have no conflicts of interest regarding the articles they consider for publication.

Information and ideas presented in submitted manuscripts must be kept confidential. Information and ideas contained in unpublished materials must not be used without the written consent of the authors.

Editors and editorial staff must take all reasonable steps to ensure the anonymity of authors and reviewers during and after the evaluation process.

Reviewers' Responsibilities

Reviewers are responsible for providing a qualified and timely assessment of the quality and merits of the manuscript. The reviewer is particularly concerned with the originality of the manuscript. The review must be objective. The reviewers' judgement must be clear and reasoned.

Reviewers assess the manuscript for adherence to the journal profile, the relevance of the topic under investigation and the methods applied, the scientific relevance of the information presented in the manuscript, the style of presentation, and the theoretical apparatus. The review has a standard format.

The reviewer must not have a conflict of interest with the authors. If a conflict exists, the reviewer must promptly inform the Editor-in-Chief. The reviewer does not agree to evaluate manuscripts outside the field of their full competence.

Reviewers should alert the Editor-in-Chief to any well-founded suspicion or knowledge of possible violations of ethical standards by authors.

Reviewers should improve the quality of the manuscript through their suggestions. If they recommend correction of the manuscript before publication, they must specify how this can be achieved. They may recommend specific references for citation, but should not cite articles published in Effetti di Lettura / Effects of Reading unless justified.

All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not use unpublished material disclosed in submitted manuscripts without the express written consent of the authors.
