Abstract

The Museum of Education at the University of Padua celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2013.
This achievement is a good occasion to trace a summary of what has been realised through various and complementary commitments: collection and preservation of historical-educational heritage mainly of the 19th and 20th Centuries; source and support for research in several fields of learning; heterogeneous combination of educational and formative initiatives; scientific divulgation among the vast public. There emerges a framework of articulate complexity on education, intended as a global process, crossing formal and informal contexts, a framework characterised by fruitful relationality through contacts at local and international level and by creative vitality, aimed at an approach more and more appropriate to the educational spirit of life contexts, coexisted and occurred in the past. On behalf of the University’s Centre of Childhood Pedagogy, tied with the Museum since its foundation, the essay is aimed at expressing deep appreciation for a reality, that has been able to conserve and cultivate memory, while opening to the new.
