Abstract
Today pedagogy and education are concerned with critical aspects deriving from the progressive importance of business-oriented and neo-localist cultures in the training of individuals and groups as compared to pedagogy in the democratic tradition. Research andreflection are required to analyze the actual contradictions in order to pursue a critical understanding and a safeguarding of ideas, institutions and practices that preserve participation and emancipation.
