Alcune riflessioni sulle rappresentazioni dell’infanzia e dei bambini nella Grecia antica

Abstract

This paper reflects on representations, stereotypes and models relating to childhood in Ancient Greece. The text presents a detailed analysis of the literary sources (epic poetry, historiography, drama and philosophy from the Archaic and Classical periods) as well as selected artistic documents (specifically, Archaic and Classical ceramography and tombstones). A complex picture emerges about feelings, relationships between adults and children, ideals and educational objectives.
