Il concetto di Scienze umane oggi: la prospettiva filosofica

Authors

Abstract

The article starts from the linguistic use of the expression “human sciences”, stressing its ambiguity.
Then it considers the historical precedents of the division of the sciences, it discusses the competence sphere, i. e. the object, of the human sciences and the list of the disciplines which can be included in it (psychology, sociology, cultural anthropology, linguistic, demography, economy, law sciences, political sciences, pedagogical sciences), excluding from it philosophy; it refers the debates on the method of human sciences and asks questions about their scope, recalling the Aristotelian concept of practical philosophy.
