Abstract

This article is intended to reflect upon ways to support and help families when dealing with difficult situations so that they can continue to provide their children with protection and education.
When families face events causing stress and troubles, the usual model of family functioning might prove to be ineffective. In this case families need to activate problem-solving processes, rearrange their relationships and renegotiate roles. In difficult situations, family vulnerability can be reduced by interventions based on a pedagogical approach aiming to reinforce coping abilities, discover and exploit actual resources within the family, promote the development of relational and reflective competencies.
