Nowadays, childhood risks to be increasingly limited within indoor contexts, reducing movement, exploration and contact with the environment. Furthermore, playgrounds offer repetitive
activities often poorly articulated: those are results of an overprotective vision with the elimination of risks in children’s play. How can we make playgrounds more appealing to youngsters
and adults? How can we design a garden as a place where kids can have significant experiences and important learning for their development? These questions have been explored with Peter
Hohenauer, designer of some green areas and Kindergartners in Munich. Peter’s playgrounds are inclusive contexts attended by people of every age and are environments capable to strengthen
social ties.
