Abstract

In Sicily the positivist season followed its own way compared to the rest of the Southern Italy, endorsing the demands for autonomy that had always characterized the academy in Sicily. The strong and original materialistic thought of Giuseppe Sergi, who recalled the legacy of the ancient greek philosophy of Magna Graecia, was followed by the moderate positivism of Giovanni Colozza who, starting from the theoretical position of Andrea Angiulli, arrived, in his extensive scientific production, to a very original speculation, far from the positions of the first positivism.
