Inclusion at University: a model to taking charge of students with learning disabilities

In Italy, the inclusive culture in educational and training contexts boasts an unparalleled history. However, it is necessary, to promote inclusive contexts, continuous work is needed. The Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore was equipped since 1999 with a specific Office for Inclusion for Students with Disabilities and Dyslexia. Based on Law No. 170 of Oct. 8, 2010, it was necessary to readjust and redesign the pedagogical approaches and modes to support students with dyslexia effectively. The pedagogical counseling offered in this Service has undergone a process of development and growth to be able to find the appropriate support for students with these needs by investing in the students' potential, guiding, and supporting them about the Study Method, proposing an approach that aims to make the student confident and pro-active. This research presents data, both qualitative and quantitative, to frame the effectiveness of the pedagogical model presented.
