Professional Training of Intercultural Educators and Mediators in Spain
Abstract
This article presents and discusses the origin, development and current situation of
the training of intercultural educators and intercultural mediators in Spain. The
first section is devoted to introducing the Spanish context of the last decades, characterized by a significant increase in the number of immigrants arriving in Spain.
The second section is focused on the characterization of the professional profile of
intercultural educators and mediators, particularly in non-university contexts. Sections three and four address the university training offer, providing an overview and commenting on the contributions of a recent European project that has developed intercultural training of professionals, through collaboration between universities and the third sector.
