Tina Tomasi’s lesson in historiography

This paper describes the ideological and scientific guidelines in Tomasi’s work in the field of the history of the Italian education and school politics. She was particularly engaged in the process of renewal, in contents and method, of these studies, after the long period of hegemony of neo-idealistic and Gentilian philosophical approach, moreover, seriously involved in fascism. To
draw the context and the development of her democratic, secularist engagement, the author will consider Tomasi’s essays, so to underline her attention to neglected subjects of education and school, her interest in archive and unpublished documents, to female conditions: these are the main peculiarities of her masterly activity in the second half of past century. This is her lascito to future scholars.
