Abstract

The paper proposes a critical reflection on Maria Montessori’s experience for developing a culture of peace through education. In this current historical period, characterized by numerous wars worldwide, it is necessary to consolidate and disseminate the culture of encounter, understanding and confrontation with diversity, as a fundamental element for building peace. The challenge is to try, starting from the lessons learned from this great teacher to renew education, through new perspectives of training, able to give new life to the legacy left by Maria Montessori, who chose Umbria as a land of peace.
In the second part, the paper proposes the design of an international advanced training course aimed at Montessori teachers.
The outcomes of this research‐training course will be used for teacher training on the topics of Peace education and Inclusion.
