The present contribution, drawing on interviews with educators and residents in two therapeutic communities for substance use disorders, offers a pedagogical, transformative understanding of work by examining its role in fostering change in addiction. Conceived as a site of personal realization, work becomes a privileged arena for education and transformation, activating identity revision, the exercise of agency, and the cultivation of responsibility. The analysis informs a rethinking of a transformative pedagogy of work.
