What do the new technologies/teaching methodologies represent for the Italian school? Are they a resource or a degeneration of the human? The Covid-19 pandemic has helped accelerate the digitisation processes in education. Analysing the strengths as well as the related risks opens up a reflection on the formation of protean minds capable of transforming their structures to adapt creatively to social changes. In the light of these considerations, the contribution intends to reflect, from a historical-educational perspective, on the evolution of the use of technologies in the classroom to educate young people to discern the human from the digital.
