Abstract

The paper analyzes the role of gender education, with reference to Italian legislation, as a tool to counter sexism and violence against women. A questionnaire administered to 678 university stu-dents explored participation in university courses and/or external seminars on gender-based vio-lence, as well as the influence of parental values on students’ adherence to pro-feminist attitudes. The results indicate that parents play a crucial role in transmitting values of equality and promoting a non-stereotyped understanding of gender roles. Conversely, in the academic sector, training on these topics remains limited or poorly attended.
