Gender equality in schools is essential to ensure a fair and inclusive environment, where students of all genders have equal opportunities for learning and development. This includes promoting a school environment free of stereotypes and discrimination and encouraging a greater gender balance in roles and activities traditionally viewed as masculine or feminine. Awareness and education on these issues from an early age contribute to the formation of individuals who are more aware and respectful of differences, promoting a fair and inclusive society. The article analyzes a participatory activity carried out in a third-grade class in Lucca, which, through the creation of sourdough starter and then bread-making, stimulated reflection on the concept of care, traditionally seen as a female prerogative, through a community network and aimed at the realization of a real-world task and the strengthening of basic skills.
