Published in 1941, following her first collection of short stories (Il coraggio delle donne) and preceding Artemisia, Piaceri di Laura, by Anna Banti, is an ironic short story dedicated to the woman loved by Petrarca, yet, at the same time, it is a minor work that offers us a clearer insight into Banti’s creative process, so to speak, meaning her particular interest, as a novelist, in the history and memory of women.
