Abstract

Paralympic sports associations play a fundamental role in the psycho-physical well-being promotion of people with disabilities. Through sports participation, they support the improvement of functional abilities while also the development of self-esteem, self-efficacy and social relationships is fostered. These environments also help to counteract stigma and discrimination by the encouragement of an inclusive culture that values individual skills and talents. Therefore, sport becomes an educational tool that supports social participation, reduces isolation and improves the overall quality of life.
