These last years, non fiction books in Spain have undergone a deep transformation, mostly visible in three key aspects: the introduction of new subjects -unseen in these kind of books until now-, a formal renovation that especially enhances the value of illustration and that brings it closer to illustrated fiction albums, and, finally, the incorporation of new ways to treat content.
This paper proposes a first analysis of the production of the last five years from a limited corpus of 386 titles from the annual selections made by the Libraries Office of Catalonia (Servei de Biblioteques de Catalunya) on books published in Spain, with the aim of identifying and quantifying the characteristics detected in the pub-lication of these books and show the recent trends.
