Call for papers n.194-2023

2022-11-07

University professors, researchers, teachers and experts are invited to send their contributions for the next issue of the review “ Pampaedia”, previously named “Bollettino As.Pe.I”, the magazine of studies and research works, on the following theme:

“Education is the most important weapon of Peace”

The title is a quotation from the works by Maria Montessori, of whom 70 years have passed since her disappearance (Chiaravalle, August 31st 1870 – Noordwijk Olanda, May 6th 1952). This anniversary is linked to the dramatic situation that we are living in this time of war and for this reason the review aims at enhancing studies, reflexions, research works, educational and teaching experiences on the themes of peace and education.
Maria Montessori nominated three times for the nobel prize for Peace – in 1949, 1950 and 1951 – does not consider peace as a problem to be abstractly formulated in connection with the economy and politics, but as an eminently anthropological question which, as such, calls education into question where all the load of hopes, expectations and responsibilities must be placed to build a future of peace. Revisiting the pages that Maria Montessori dedicated to this theme - writings and conferences held between 1932 and 1939 in the period in which Italy was preparing for war - helps, on the one hand, to attribute the meaning it deserves to the indissoluble bond between peace and education; on the other hand, to question ourselves: what kind of education today can foster behaviors of peace in young people and, first of all, in educators, teachers, parents, in the family, at school, in associations, in volunteering and in all ganglia vital to society?
