Abstract

The process of inclusion of children with disabilities beyond compulsory schooling represents a significant challenge in the Italian context. While the law guarantees inclusion at school, parents are often faced with an uncertain reality once their children complete compulsory schooling. This uncertainty concerns above all the social, professional and cultural future of children with disabilities, since the Italian welfare system shows serious gaps in providing adequate support beyond the scholastic context.

The aim of this work is to urge the adoption of targeted policies and programs that promote accessibility, equity and full involvement of disabled people in society, providing the point of view of those who have worked in secondary schools degree as support teacher and BES contact person.
