Abstract

The Comprehensive School “Teresa Mattei”, in Bagno a Ripoli near Florence, is the heir to the Marcello Trentanove’s pedagogical vision. The experience refers to the period between the end of the 1960s and the beginning of the 1990s, when he was the educational director. This paper presents some outcomes of a case study that reconstructed Trentanove's pedagogical vision in relation to the one currently present within the school to identify which elements have survived the passage of years and how they have adapted within a profoundly changed social, political, and educational context. The content analysis of the textual and documentation material highlighted some thematic dimensions linking past and present: the idea of an open school connected to the community, for active citizenship activities, the attention to inclusion, the setting of learning environments to support active teaching and learning practices.
