This article examines the implications of using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in qualitative research, with a specific focus on the Grounded Theory approach. After outlining the potential of AI in optimizing data coding and analysis processes, it addresses epistemological and ethical concerns related to the loss of interpretative depth, transparency, and algorithmic bias. The article emphasizes the need to preserve the researcher’s critical and reflective role, proposing strategies for responsibly integrating AI without compromising the essence of the grounded method. It calls for a reflection on balancing automation and interpretation in qualitative knowledge construction.
