This essay offers a critical and articulated reading of the professionalism of the social educator from an emancipatory approach. From a comparative perspective, the emancipatory dynamic promoted by Italy and Spain is highlighted in relation to these professional profiles in both countries. The formal structures of institutional recognition are defined locally and interpreted from an international perspective, in order to recover the specificity of professional and community action. In a context dominated by hegemonic proposals and considerations. This new vision of the extraterritorial and pedagogical dimension offers us the opportunity to continue defining paths coherently oriented towards the valorization of education and of those who use it professionally.
