A different school: the role and meanings of some popular education experiences

This contribution returns some reflections carried out as part of a broader research project aimed at taking into account the innovative and experimental dimension of some experiences of popular education so that various useful elements for pedagogical reflection can emerge.
Today, these experiences collect a precious heritage and seem to be a valid response to some inequalities with which the school system is hardly able to cope.
In Italy popular education has given a crucial contribution to the social, political and cultural transformations of the country, and even today it reveals the capability to foster new solutions within the ever-changing and increasingly complex contexts.
