Abstract

Educating necessarily means measuring oneself against the complexity and problematic nature of a subject exposed to the frailties of the contemporary world. The sudden succession of discoveries and applications of science and technology, the thickening of an increasingly pervasive communication system, the fragility of knowledge, the economic crisis, the disturbing nihilism that threatens young people, the inability to give a meaning to existence: there are innumerable threats facing human beings and their formation today. In our present dominated by technology and by nihilistic and posthumanist tendencies, what can be the authentic space for the person's social participation? Can we still talk about the person, about ethical paradigms and planning, about sense and responsibility? Pedagogical reflection is constitutively appointed to direct praxis in directions of understanding, axiological planning and active participation of the person in the democratic construction of society. Care marks this path of the person throughout the course of his existence and makes the educational utopia concrete, the ability to be that connotes existence together with others as fruitful.
