Understanding violence: a need to foster educational prevention of violent behaviour and hate culture

Abstract

The contribution addresses the educational understanding of the phenomenon of violence from a broad and interdisciplinary perspective, as a basis for establishing proposals for prevention and educational action. Some theoretical foundations for the prevention of violent behaviour are also explained, from the ethics of care and otherness to the promotion of an education based on the conviviality of differences. It concludes with a proposal of strategic lines of action and possible responses that can be used by educators to prioritise these strategic lines of action in the planning and development of educational processes of awareness, prevention and socio-educational intervention to deal with violence and incitement to hatred
