Starting from the news of a lost commentary on Petrarca’s Rime by Margherita Sarrocchi, this essay aims to trace the signs of this critical reading in the Scanderbeide, the major work of the Neapolitan author. Pending the critical edition that is announced as forthcoming, a first, partial survey has been conducted on Canto I of the poem, from which a very dense presence of Petrarchan echoes emerges, taken up and woven into the author’s verses.
