Abstract

This article is based on a keynote speech that was prepared to be delivered at the Conference of Italian TA Associations, due to take place 6th & 7th March, 2020, in Rome. The theme of the conference was ˜E pur, si muovE”: l’”AT in un mondo che cambia”. The theme of that conference (which, unfortunately, due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, was first postponed and then cancelled), and the thesis of this article take their inspiration from the phrase “E pur si muove”, which is attributed to Galileo Galilei (1564-1642), the Italian mathematician, physicist, and philosopher. He is said to have muttered it in 1633 after the abjuration he made in response to being found “vehemently suspect of heresy” (of heliocentrism) by the Roman Catholic Inquisition.
