Women’s roles and professions between past and future. Gender, education and pedagogy in transformation
Throughout history, women have played many roles with various facets: midwives and teachers, guardians of the home and protagonists in the public sphere, nurses, researchers, scientists, politicians and intellectuals. Their presence in the field of education and pedagogy is both fundamental and invisible: they have transmitted knowledge, raised generations, opened paths, but too often their contribution has remained on the margins of collective memory, ignored and forgotten.
Today, women are teachers, managers, scholars, and professionals in all fields of knowledge and work. Yet gender stereotypes continue to shape careers, expectations and roles, showing how much work still needs to be done to achieve full equality.
The journal aims to open up a space for critical and interdisciplinary reflection on the relationships between women, gender, pedagogy and education, questioning the memories of the past and the challenges of the present.
In the next issue, we welcome contributions that explore, among others, the following themes:
a) female figures in the history of education, schools and universities;
b) educational and care professions: from midwives to teachers, from nurses to educators, to new social professions;
c) women’s paths in scientific and pedagogical research;
d) children’s and young adult literature as a space for representation, negotiation and transformation of female figures and professions.
