Abstract

This article presents a study investigating how AI-based tools, such as ChatGPT and GitHub Copilot, shape programming education within the online community r/learnprogramming on Reddit. By analyzing 156 posts and 3512 comments, the research highlights the dual potential of AI to lower barriers for novice coders and to create over-reliance that undermines fundamental problem-solving skills. Additional findings focus on the experiences of learners with ADHD and physical disabilities, discussing how inclusive design principles—like web accessibility guidelines—may foster equitable access. Finally, the study engages broader educational frameworks, including Universal Design for Learning (UDL), to address the need for personalized instruction in AI-powered environments. These insights underscore the importance of ethically grounded, inclusive strategies as AI tools continue to redefine programming education.
