The essay offers a commentary on the song Domine, ne in furore tuo arguas me written by Italian poet Simone Serdini (il Saviozzo). The text, structured as a request for forgiveness in form of a prayer to Count Roberto Novello da Poppi of the Guidi del Casentino family, is focused on the identification between God and the recipient of the text. In the essay, particular attention is paid to the biblical, liturgical and hagiographic sources that support the structure of the song, as well as to the pervasive action of Dante's fundamental model.
