Abstract

The paper focuses on Domenico Comparetti’s studies on Nonius Marcellus, dating back to the first phase of his philological activity. The examination of Comparetti’s research on Nonius’s De Compendiosa Doctrina helps to better clarify Comparetti’s international relationships and also provides us with a useful insight into his philological, or, more properly, ecdotic vision. The essay is accompanied by an appendix containing u published letters from Achille Coen and Wallace M. Lindsay to Comparetti.
