Excavations conducted in 2016 by the University of Naples «Federico II» in the Forum of Cuma investigated a large late antique spoliation pit determined by the complete removal of a section of the monumental tufa portico that closed the open space of the square on the northern side. Levels below the foundation of the portico have yielded ceramic artifacts that set the date of the facility around the mid-3rd century BCE. Among these materials is a fragment of a black-painted bowl decorated in relief. The morpho-typological framing and analysis of the decorative motif of the medallion stamped on the bottom of the cup allow its attribution to the Calenian production of K(aeso) Atilio(s), a potter active in the first half of the 3rd century B.C.
