Abstract

The ancient sources and testimonies are able to restore the multifaceted physiognomy of Apollonius Molon, who, having moved from his native Caria, at the time dominated by Asian eloquence, to the island of Rhodes, was able to promote the Rhodian style in the field of oratory, becoming the teacher of some of the most influential Roman personalities of the last generation of the republic, including Cicero and Caesar. Cicero, in particular, by direct testimony, at Molon’s school perfected his technique with assiduous declamatory exercises.
