Some drawings of P.Herc. 1670 (Philodemus, On Providence) give evidence that the papyrus was written also on the verso. This interesting feature is quite rare among Herculaneum papyri and deserves careful examination. Mario Capasso has already offered on this topic some great intuitions, which can be now confirmed and deepened with new data, leading to new conclusions. In this paper, I will try to determine when the writing on the verso was discovered, the reason why was employed and whether can be located on the back of the extant papyrus.
