Since Antiquity has been debated whether the invitation made by Horace, Carm. 4,12, to a Virgil might have been addressed to the Poet or to some other person with the same name. The purpose of the present contribution is to show how everything leads to the conclusion that in the Ode 4,12 Virgil is someone other than the Poet
